Hello everyone! To any of my followers, you may be confused as you signed up to follow The Odd Omnivore. I’m happy to report though that this former persona is gone, but the feisty female blogger remains!
Why the change in name?
I haven’t been an omnivore since November of 2017, becoming pescatarian and then vegetarian. I was so tired of living a lie! I haven’t eaten meat for quite some time, likely because of the research and writing I was doing on the environmental impact of a conventional diet. I attempted to justify simply a more plant-based diet with meat but that still didn’t seem right. It’s all about what works for you! I feel now though that I have an ethical imperative to explain this evidence-based conclusion, that meat harms the planet and that we all need to shift our diets in some way to be able to survive. I made the choice to go full vegetarian last December after returning home from Chile and it was one of the best decisions in my life.
What does Foodie for the Future mean?
Foodie for the Future is something I thought up because it conveys the idea that this blog is about conscious consumption. I’m most interested in writing about how our diets and the current food system impact the environment, and therefore the future of our earth! So, in that sense I’m a foodie eating to protect all of our futures.
Will my content change?
All my recipes were pretty much vegetarian to begin with. I will be writing more about sustainability. My content will more directly be about the benefits of a vegetarianism and more resources for people who want to eat less meat. I want those resources to be available to you even if you don’t follow this particular diet.
Now I’d like to hear from you. Are there any recipes you’d like to try out? Want reviews on veggie protein substitutes like the Beyond Burger? Do you want to hear about how you can help the earth more than giving up straws?
Please leave a comment for me and let me know what you’d be interested in reading about!!
And answer this poll 🙂
